Terms of service

1. What CanYouDo? is

CanYouDo? ("we", "us"), at canyoudo.uk, is a digital notice board and introduction service. We provide a platform where independent cleaners ("service providers") advertise their services and where customers post requests, together with tools for profiles, calendars, bookings, messaging, reviews and payments of our service charge.

We are not a cleaning company, employment agency, employer or insurer. We do not provide cleaning services, do not supervise or direct how work is done, and do not guarantee any outcome. Any contract for cleaning is formed directly between the customer and the service provider. We are not a party to it.

2. Independent service providers

Service providers are self-employed independent businesses. They set their own hourly rates, choose their own availability, accept or decline work at their discretion, and are solely responsible for:

  • their own independent insurance, including any public liability cover (see section 6);
  • their own tax, National Insurance and any registrations or licences their business requires;
  • the standard, safety and manner of their own work;
  • the accuracy of everything on their profile, including rates, photos, contact details and insurance information.

3. Payments — two separate parts

  • The service provider sets their own hourly rate. The customer pays that rate directly to the provider. We do not collect, hold, process or guarantee it, and we take no commission from it.
  • The customer pays CanYouDo? a service charge of 20%, calculated on the provider's rate for the booking and added on top. It is shown before booking and paid online through our payment processor.
  • Where a customer marks a request urgent, any agreed uplift is part of the provider's rate and is paid to the provider. Our service charge applies to the agreed total in the usual way.
  • Our service charge is refundable if a booking is cancelled by either party before the work takes place.
  • Any disputes about the cleaning itself, its standard, or the provider's own fee are between the customer and the provider.

4. Customers' responsibilities

  • Provide a safe working environment, honest access instructions and accurate details of the work.
  • Agree with the provider, before work begins, what is being done and what is being supplied — including cleaning products and equipment.
  • Pay the provider their rate in full as agreed.
  • Insure your own property and its contents. Our platform does not cover it.
  • Leave reviews that are honest and factual. Reviews are published publicly.

5. Service providers' responsibilities

  • Keep your profile, rate, availability, blocked dates and insurance details accurate and current.
  • Turn up when agreed, do the work asked for, and communicate promptly through the portal if anything changes.
  • Only upload photos you own or have permission to use, showing your own work.
  • Hold and maintain whatever insurance your business requires, and discuss it openly with customers.

6. Insurance — please read

CanYouDo? does not provide, arrange, broker, verify or underwrite any insurance of any kind. Nothing on this site is an offer of insurance or a statement that any person or job is insured.

Service providers are independent businesses responsible for obtaining and maintaining their own independent insurance. Where a provider records insurance details with us, we may display that details are "on file". That is a record of what the provider has told us — it is not a verification, endorsement, recommendation or guarantee by us, and we do not check that any policy exists, is valid, is in force, or covers any particular job.

It is the responsibility of the customer and the service provider to discuss and agree insurance arrangements directly between themselves before any work begins, and to satisfy themselves as to the cover in place. If cover matters to you, ask to see the policy.

7. Reviews, ratings and gradings

Reviews are written by customers about providers and are published publicly on provider profiles. Gradings (New, Rising Star, Trusted, Elite, Superstar) are calculated automatically from review data. We may remove reviews that are abusive, fraudulent, or not based on a genuine booking, but we do not edit reviews to be more favourable, and a grading is a summary of past reviews rather than a promise about future work.

8. Liability

Because we are an introduction service only, we are not liable for the acts, omissions, standard of work, conduct, or insurance position of any service provider or customer, nor for any loss, damage or injury arising out of a booking. Claims relating to a clean should be taken up between the customer and the provider (and the provider's insurer where relevant). Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Subject to that, our total liability to any user is limited to the service charges that user paid us in the previous 12 months.

9. Fair use and removal

We may suspend or remove accounts that provide false information (including false insurance or identity details), behave abusively, repeatedly cancel, manipulate reviews or gradings, or attempt to avoid our service charge after being introduced here.

10. The booking system

Bookings, reminders and notifications are handled by our booking system, which is monitored and uses automated (AI-assisted) checks to flag unclear or unusual requests for human review. The system assists only — the decision to accept any job always rests with the service provider.
